Job Title: Epic Project Manager
Location: La Mirada, CA 90638 (Remote)
Duration: 12 weeks
Work Schedule: Night (5x8 Hours) 19:00 7:00


Position Overview:
• The Business Intelligence Developer create analytics content for end users and third parties who require Epic data.
• The Business Intelligence Developer is critical in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights through the development of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Epic's reporting tools.
• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Caboodle, and related tools, along with a strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows.


Specific Skills Needed:
• Critical thinking and an analytical mind
• User-focused design and data visualization skills
• Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
• Proficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics tools
• Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure, through training that occurs early in the implementation
• Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areas
• Ability to understand data structures that could benefit the entire data environment


Education/Experience/Training:
Required:
• 3 years of experience and under
• Client's internal applicants or Altera employees (working at Client as of May 2025), Epic certification in the required application/module must be obtained within 120 days of hire or transfer into the position. Failure to obtain certification within this timeframe may result in removal from the position; however, the employee will be eligible to apply for other internal openings for which they meet the minimum qualifications.


Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, math, information systems, or statistics
• External applicants:
o Possess active Epic certification in at least one of the below certifications:
o Epic Train Track: Access Data Model
o Epic Train Track: Clinical Data Model
o Epic Train Track: Revenue Data Model
o Epic Train Track: Caboodle Development for Non-Epic Data
o Epic Train Track: Caboodle Development for Clarity Data
o Epic Cogito Data Model, Clarity Data Model and Caboodle Data Model
• Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, HIPPA)
• Analytics, SQL experience and developing in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
• Experience in a hospital and/or clinic setting


Duties and Responsibilities:
• Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient's protected health information in accordance with State and Federal (HIPAA) regulatory requirements, hospital, and departmental policies.
• Ensures a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy.
• With consideration to age, employee utilizes the approved process to resolve biophysical, psychological, educational, and environmental needs of patient/significant other when administering care.

• Analyzing non-Caboodle datasets to identify required data elements to be moved into Caboodle
• Mapping non-Epic datasets to existing database structures within Caboodle
• Designing and developing custom database structures within Caboodle as needed
• Developing custom imports to move additional pieces of Epic data from Clarity to Caboodle
• Developing custom import packages to move non-Epic data into Caboodle
• Designing data models to meet organization-specific goals and use cases
• Leading decisions around coding practices and version control
• Configuring and testing Epic-released and Foundation System content for all applications, including:
o Reporting Workbench
o SlicerDicer
o Radar
o Cogito SQL
• Creating content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle
• Writing SQL and configuring Radar settings for custom SQL metrics
• Modifying existing reports, as necessary
• Distributing analytics content to data consumers
• Reviewing peer reports for validity
• Working with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers
• Maintaining the Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records
• Testing analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments
• Reviewing upgrade documentation related to Cogito features and determining how to implement the changes
• Also responsible for building and maintaining:
o Cubes
o Extracts
o SlicerDicer custom filters
o Third-party BI tools
o Epic data in Caboodle
• Provide timely on-site and remote support to end users, including after-hours support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
